Storming of Redoubt 10 during the Siege of Yorktown The Continental Army was created on 14 June by the Continental Congress as a unified army for the colonies to fight Great Britain, with George Washington appointed as its commander. As the Revolutionary War progressed, French aid, resources, and military thinking influenced the new army. A number of European soldiers came on their own to help, such as Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben , who taught the army Prussian tactics and organizational skills. The army fought numerous pitched battles and in the South —81 sometimes used the Fabian strategy and hit-and-run tactics , hitting where the enemy was weakest, to wear down the British forces. Washington led victories against the British at Trenton and Princeton , but lost a series of battles around New York City in and Philadelphia in With a decisive victory at Yorktown , and the help of the French, the Continental Army prevailed against the British. After the war, though, the Continental Army was quickly given land certificates and disbanded in a reflection of the republican distrust of standing armies. State militias became the new nation’s sole ground army, with the exception of a regiment to guard the Western Frontier and one battery of artillery guarding West Point ‘s arsenal.

I have never seen a poorly run exchange and food court. It is pretty sad that when I go to subway today at get told that they are closed. Even with a hours of operation sign sitting right there on the walk saying So I called the food court and ask the person on the phone what time they close and they said So I asked then why am I sitting in your food court being told that you are closed. Your Motto is you are everywhere I am is B.
Also I have been in your BK and watch your employees fight in front of other customers. Maybe something you might not want to do. Also the same subway at the main PX I saw employees sitting on the tables where they make the food. I see you are not making enough money to buy chairs. Also at the Charles there are people fight in front of customers as well. I mean what the hell is the GM Reda going to do about it. Because it seem to me she failed. I know for a fact that you are losing a lot of business because everyone goes off post to eat because the service is better and oh yeah the food taste is better.

Many of the photos originally shown here, and some which remain, were taken by him years ago when he was just getting interested into railroad photography and railfanning. Understandably, the quality of some of these older photos is not high. Jones has been travelling around the Carolinas for many years hunting out present and former stations and photographing them. He has contributed several hundred excellent photos of depots and other railroad structures for this site.
Because of the higher quality of digital photography, in some cases, Mr. Jones’ photos have replaced those which originally appeared on this site.
